Israel Prize for Natural Sciences Awarded to Prof. Musa Yudim
Justifying its decision, the commission wrote: 2022 will be awarded to Professor Musa Yudim for his pioneering achievements in the field of neuro-pharmacological research. Professor Yudim was one of the first to study the function of iron in the brain in a stressful situation and in degenerative processes.
In addition, the commission noted: “Professor Yudim, a native of Tehran, raised generations of students who became scientists and holding key positions in the Israeli biotechnology industry. His scientific work has received international recognition and has won many awards.
This year, the Israel Prize is awarded in the following areas:
1) in the field of humanities and social sciences, as well as in fields of study of Judaism – for studies of philosophy and religious studies, Hebrew and general linguistics, studies of the Middle East;
2) in the field of exact sciences — for research in the field of physics and chemistry, for research in the field of natural sciences;
3) in the field of culture and art — stage arts, theater and ballet, Jewish songs, folk art;
4) Special Achievement Award — technological initiatives and innovation, a life's work and a special contribution to public life (two laureates).
