Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships
Selection Committees
Once submitted to the appropriate granting agency, each nomination is evaluated by an agency-specific selection committee. Each selection committee recommends the top 55 or 56 candidates (for a combined total among the three granting agencies of up to 167 candidates) to the Vanier-Banting Board based on the nominee's academic and research potential, as well as their leadership skills.
Vanier-Banting Board and Steering Committee
The Vanier-Banting Board endorses the recommendations for Vanier scholarships put forward by the selection committees of the three federal granting agencies. The Vanier-Banting Board also oversees the program's process, policies and results to ensure that the program achieves its objectives.
The Steering Committee, which comprises the presidents of the three federal granting agencies and the deputy ministers of Industry Canada and Health Canada makes the final decisions on funding. Each year, the Steering Committee approves up to 167 Vanier scholars for funding based on the recommendations endorsed by the Vanier-Banting Board.
When can the award be taken up?
