Trhree Israelis join US National Academy of Engineering

Trhree Israelis were elected this year as foreign associates to the American National Academy of Engineering. A total of 11 foreign associates were selected this year. Technion’s Alon Gany was selected for “advances in the development of solid propellants for rockets and scramjets,” and his colleague Moshe Shoham was recognized for contributions to robotic technology for image-guided surgery. David Harel of Rehovot’s Weizmann Institute of Science was honored for his contributions to the logic of programming.

The National Academy of Engineering is part of the National Academy of Sciences, a group of private, non-profit organizations established in 1863 that brings together the nation’s top scientists, engineers, and doctors to advance research and knowledge in the United States. The NAE also elected 67 American engineers to join its ranks this year.
