International Puppet Festival in Jerusalem

The International Puppet Festival is produced annually by the Train Theater and takes place during the month of August. Now is celebrating its 25th edition. The Festival offers a range of performances for children and adults, from contemporary and traditional puppet theater to object and character theater, from local and international companies.

Since its creation, the Festival has hosted many well-known artists from the world of puppet theater from Israel and around the world, gaining international acclaim. The aim of the festival is to promote the contemporary puppet theater vernacular with an emphasis on a personal, modern, high-quality theatrical language in all its component parts. The Train Theater produces original performances for children, and during the festival presents shows for a wide age range, from toddlers to adult audiences.

During the Festival, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these International Exposure Project forge a bridge between local performing artists and festival directors from abroad, creating an opportunity for Israeli artists to perform around the world.

The Festival events take place in auditoriums and spaces within easy walking distance from each other, including the Train Theater, Liberty Bell Park, Yemin Moshe, the Khan Theater and the First Station.

We look forward to celebrating our festival of creativity with you!
