“University as the key player in the development of a national innovation ecosystem”

The New Eurasia Foundation is organizing a study tour for representatives of Russian institutions of higher learning to Xinghua University, one of the world’s top institutions of higher learning located in Beijing, China.

Tsinghua University is well known as China’s leading institution of higher learning in the field of life sciences. Tsinghua University was ranked the 48th worldwide by QS World University Rankings in 2012, 52nd worldwide by Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2012, 34th worldwide in Human Resources & Labor Review’s Best World Universities 2012, 49th worldwide by US News and World Report (USNEWS), 13th worldwide in the category of engineering and IT by USNEWS, 2009, and ranked 151–200 Worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities by Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2010. In 2011, according to University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), it was the world’s university No.1 in the field of engineering.

Purpose of the study tour:
– The study tour participants will learn about the Tsinghua University’s experiences in designing and applying the most advanced approaches and methods in the development of innovative university ecosystems, collaboration between institutions of higher learning, businesses, and bodies of power, development of university entrepreneurship, and strengthening of the role of universities as the key players in the development of national innovation ecosystems.

– The study tour participants will also meet with Tsinghua University representatives to discuss potential collaboration avenues.
Study tour period: 12-18 May 2013.
