International Exhibition of Contemporary Paper Art

International Exhibition of Contemporary Paper Art (Enlarge).

Origami workshops for the whole family
31.3.15-30.8.15

Old Jaffa Museum launches a contemporary paper art exhibition, the first of its kind in Israel. The exhibition brings together 30 world-renowned paper masters, curated by artist Paul Jackson.

We usually crumple paper when something is not going right… So how does paper crumpling becomes art, and how does it mimic activities in the nature?
The exhibition displays “crumpled” works by the French artist Vincent Floderer, as well as creations by the artist and mathematician Martin L. Demaine and his son, MIT professor Erik Demaine, who received a half a million dollar grant to study the mathematics of folding. In addition, Dr. Robert Lang, one of the developers of car airbags, will display works of art created by hundreds of folds of paper. Moreover, the exhibition will host the German artist Heinz Strobl and his works made from folded strips of paper hundreds of meters long, as well as other leading and respected artists.
