Homelessness in Times of Crisis

The annual European Homelessness Research Conference has become globally important as the leading forum for discussion of homelessness research and policy across the European Union. The 9th Annual Research Conference on Homelessness in Europe entitled “Homelessness in Times of Crisis” will take place in Warsaw on September 19th, 2014. The conference will be organised by FEANTSA’s European Observatory on Homelessness and hosted by the University of Warsaw.

The Theme
Evidence on the impacts of the economic and financial crisis on the extent and nature of homelessness and housing exclusion across Europe reveals uneven patterns. In some countries, there are signs that the economic and financial crisis is having a negative impact. In others, however, homelessness also remains a problem but the implementation of integrated homelessness strategies seems to have managed to limit the impacts of the crisis.

The conference “Homelessness in Times of Crisis” aims at stimulating the dissemination of research outcomes and methodological approaches focusing on the social impacts of the economic and financial crisis – as well as of the policy responses to them adopted across Europe – regarding homelessness and housing exclusion.
