High School Programs
Qualifications:
We have a limited number of scholarships available for Russian speaking Israeli high school students.
To be considered for BIMA, you must have talent and experience in one of our arts majors.
For both programs, you must fit the following criteria:
1. Come from a Russian speaking background and have the language skills, knowledge, and motivation to be of service to the Russian speaking Jewish community;
2. Be currently in grade 10 or 11;
3. Have comfort, openness and interest in learning about Judaism and exploring Jewish identity through various modes of study, creative encounters and community life;
4. Be ready and able to commit to pre-summer orientation meetings, the summer experience, and a full year of follow up programming (September 2012-May 2013) that includes monthly web seminars and an in-person weekend retreat;
Application Process:
If you are interested in applying, the process is as follows:
1. Speak with one of our recruiters in Israel, or contact Rabbi Golan Ben-Chorin for more information
2. Any applicant for BIMA will be required to submit a sample of their artistic work (ask recruiter for details)
3. Candidates will be asked to provide recommendations and will be selected through a process of interviews
4. A select group of applicants will be invited to an interview in Haifa on Monday March 12, 2012.
5. Applicants will be notified on or before March 19, 2012.
Cost of the Program:
The full tuition cost for BIMA is $5400. The full tuition cost for Genesis is $5000. This does not include the cost of travel from Israel to Boston, visa costs, health insurance, or spending money. Applicants who are offered a scholarship will be expected to pay $540 for BIMA and $500 for Genesis. In additional, participants will be expected to pay any costs associated with obtaining a visa. All travel costs (including travel to pre-summer orientation) as well as health insurance costs will be covered as part of the scholarship.
