The World Robot Olympiad 2014

World Robot Olympiad (WRO 2014) will take place in the Olympic city of Sochi on 21-23 November 2014. The World Robot Olympiad is an event that touches science, technology and education spheres and unites the young people from all corners of the planet. It helps them to develop their solve problem skills, creativity and education level in different subjects, such as science, mathematics and many other.

The World Robot Olympiad is a non-profit organization founded in 2004. National Organisers are responsible for organizing regional and national tournaments in their respective countries, and the best teams from each member country qualify for the international WRO final. A new country hosts the annual international WRO every November.

Russia is proud to be one of its 45 member-countries and to play host to the event in its 11th anniversary.

The World Robot Olympiad offers four different competitions, each across one or more different age groups. In the Regular Category, teams solve a specific challenge on a playing field. The Open Category is an exhibition style competition in which teams builds creative and innovative robotics projects.

In WRO GEN II Football two teams with each two autonomous robots play football (soccer) matches. WRO College Regular Category, which conceptually is similar to the other WRO regular competitions, is for the older students. Here robots also have to solve a specific challenge on a playing field.
