Intel unveils the "smartest building in the world"

Intel today inaugurated its development center in Petah Tikva. The Calcalist learned that the company's investment on the new campus was NIS 650 million ($ 180 million), of which $ 25 million was land cost. The new development center will center Intel's employees from the old campus in Petah Tikva, as well as from Raanana and will create one large center that will employ 2,000 employees.

In the coming years, the number is expected to grow by 700 more employees. These are employees of the company's 20 development groups in the fields of computing, communication, artificial intelligence and cyber.

The building area is 75,000 square meters, 35,000 of which are underground, and Intel claims it is the smartest building in the world. Know how to gather information, process it, use artificial intelligence and thus make decisions and navigate its systems autonomously. " For example, the lifts in the building over time learn the travel patterns of the employees and think alone of the travel and stopping routes, so that people wait as little time as possible.

The special services floor of the building includes a gym and sports clubs, a hairdresser, massage, pedicure and manicure, optics services, a games room, a music room, a synagogue and a computer lab.

The building has about 14,000 sensors for lighting, temperature and occupancy (compared to about 7,000 sensors in a standard sized standard building). For example, the lighting systems and smart blinds in the building adapt to changing light throughout the day.

The building is also highly energy efficient at 40% of a standard building and its water systems consume 75% less water than a standard building. The building was built under green construction and 95% of the waste generated during construction was recycled.

There is a control system in the parking lot containing 1,200 cars that lets you know at any given moment the occupancy as well as the exact location of each vehicle. An employee can keep up with the occupancy situation in the parking lot out of the way and thus plan his arrival.
